From here, Cape Leeuwin marks the south western tip and is one of the three great capes that few sailors get the honour of passing. The route takes you below the 40th parallel for another jaunt eastwards. On the horizon are the unforgiving shores of the Nullarbor Plain as you head towards Tasmania and the Tasman seas.

An infamous race section, it is heralded as Sydney-Hobart Race battleground, the Southern Hemisphere's equivalent to the Fastnet Race. The waves so popular with Aussie surfers, challenge crews, kit and courage as teams route north for a push to reach Eastern Australia.
